H.S.  Henry Strudwick of Idehurst, owned farms, glass furnace and iron forge.

One William Strudwick in 1606 killed E.D.Hayward with a stone.

H.S. 1662 - 1710 Vicar of Wisborough Green, Sx. Master at Christchurch, Oxford BA

H.S. 1691 - 1763 Vicar of Alfold, Sy. Master at University Col., Oxford BA. Alfold was a centre of smuggling. Was it "Brandy for the Parson"

C.Snelling, who's father was a well-to-do tallow chandler, was a property owner in Croydon.

John Strudwick 1726 - 1781 was apprenticed in 1740 to John Holland of Shere, Mercer in consideration of £42.

Anna Garner 1835 -   Appointed an in-sister of Whitgift Hospital in Croydon on 23/7/1831

Elizabeth Ann Hayes 1810 - 1881 Born in Jamaica. Said to be daughter of John Hayes, later to be Rear Admiral Hayes, who was stationed in Jamaica from 1797 - 1802.

M.J.Strudwick 1873 - 1876 When a mariner did he meet Elizabeth Tarrant travelling on the ship from Jersey?  He had a brother who was a proprietor of the billiard and snooker saloon in Hackney.

Ernest Merley Topp, moved from Hampshire to Yorkshire.

Mary Barttelot, married at Stopham church. Fathers ancestors fought at battle of Hastings and Agincourt. Mother of royal descent from Edward 2nd.

Betty Rapper bought Henry Strudwick a dowry of £900.

Mary Lambert bought John Strudwick a dowry of £2,300. Her ancestors sold the manor Lambert Oak's to Lord Derby who bestowed the name on the horse race "The Oak's"

Jeffrey Lambert Strudwick 1760 - 1830 was apprenticed to Dandy of Dorking, Maltster and coal merchant for £80. Evidently made good as at his son's marriage was classed as a "Gentleman"

Jeffrey Lambert Strudwick   - 1863 Had a coal wharf on the canal at Croydon, now site of west Croydon station. According to GH Kenyon, "The Strudwick's apart from judicious marriages, the Strudwick's were skilled, vigorous, enterprising and fertile"!

Elizabeth Tarrant 1832 - 1904 A farmers daughter from Ringwood, Hants.

Alice Strudwick 1863 - 1961 The Matriarch of the family. "The end of a era of gracious living"
